Feedback
Once finishing our opening we decided to ask people what they thought and also get feedback to consider, we did try to work on some of this, but some we had used for effect.

Behind the Scences
Here is our behind the scenes footage. We have included scenes that we filmed that we did not like, footage then went wrong due to blibs such as our actors laughing and finally some of our practice shots. We think this gives an inside into our characters real personality and shows our progression through filming to our final film.
Production Logos
In this video you can see the progression of our production logo's. We started with a stop motion video which we created from an APP on the iphone. We thought the quirky and different style it had would reflect the quickness you see in our film particulary through the titles we use. Once we had created this and added into onto our film we found it looked unprofessional I also didn't like the background of our stop motion it looked "put together", I think this reflected the lack of planning we had put into the production logo. We then realised the improtance of the production logo and how it reflected the movie alot itself and the image we created for the film. We then tried using after after effect software to make a more professinal looking logo. With our second logo we found it looked to plain as we was new to the after effect software, we therefore decided to learn more about the software, after watching online tutorials we created our third logo. This is our most complex and professional looking logo, we think it reflects young quirkness still with the glowing effect we use. We also decided to go back to the name"GEL" as it was shorter and more remeberarble.

Evaluation Question 7
7:Looking Back At Your Preliminary Task - What Do You Feel You Have Learnt In The Progression From It To Full Product
Since completing my preliminary task I learnt and progressed alot with my media work. The level of work I completed is much more professional and of a higher quality than the preliminary task.
Firstly within my planning I have learnt that the story board needs to be very in depth, stating all aspects of the shot such as the angle, lighting, exactly who will be in and the props and settings used. I realized this firstly when doing my preliminary task, my storyboard was not as in depth which made it harder to capture the shots as we had to think on out feet a lot. Having a fully in depth storyboard for the final opening made out filming time more productive and we completed the shots in a much quicker stress free time.
I have also learnt the importance of looking at similar films to what you are going to make, since looking back at my preliminary task I realize that it did not look very professional, therefore I looked at similar films so that I could see what the conventions were that would make a typical film. I also used this to see the genre signifies which would help make the piece look more professional and realistic.
Other aspects of planning that the preliminary task showed the importance were was having a shot list, and shot plan to save time and be efficient within filming. Also I saw that the preliminary task did not directly look like a an opening, it appeared more an a scene from a film, from realizing this I researched more general film openings to see the main conventions, I noticed that they did not hold much dialogue, they generally had music running through, they used lots of small shots from different angles, they also had many titles in their pieces. All these aspects I have tried to incorporated into the film opening I created. Following on from the mention of titles, I have learnt the importance of the titles used in an film opening, therefore I researched openings and made time lines of the titles they used, this taught me what titles were needed and when they should be shown in the opening.
When filming our preliminary we thought the filming would be a lot easier than it actually was, therefore we didn't do a practice shoot. However we realized after that we should have as it would of given us better insight into what shots worked well and which didn't, this left out preliminary looking very dark with bad lighting, if we had practiced this we could of anticipated this and used a different setting or used a light. Using the experience from the preliminary task we decided to do practice shots when filming our final film opening. We tried different locations many that we knew would be quite and empty so there was no distractions. We also tried different angles and times of the day to show different lighting and also for different effects.
Once we had finished filming we came to the editing stages of our task. We found out that we knew very little about the software. This meant we had to start from scratch when we was doing our preliminary task we used the cutting tool and basic transitions. When coming to our final piece we had to try out many different transitions, and effects for example the slowing down tool and the fading tool. Looking at our finished preliminary task we discovered that it didn't flow very well and looked unprofessional, this gave us the idea's to use the transitions. We also had to use the software to edit sounds which we did not use fro the preliminary this is as the sound for the preliminary was not strong and the sounds we're hard to hear. So we created our own sounds and inserted them so the sounds could be heard more.
Overall filming the task helped us out a lot as we were able to make the mistakes needed to make before we took action on our final piece. We all felt confident in what we were doing and what we needed to include. In the progression from the preliminary task to our final task we have all learnt numerous things that contribute to our opening. It showed us how prepared you need to be when planning to avoid time consuming mistakes being made. Also it helped us to further understand how a film opening should look and how to edit everything together. Of course we still made mistakes during our final piece, however they were easily overcame and in our control. Although our final piece wasn't perfected from doing the preliminary task it allowed us to understand the task better and defiantly made a difference to our final grade.
