I have chosen a poster from the film Bridesmaids. The poster has a long shot in the center of the poster, this shows the 6 main characters in the image, this therefore shows the audience who will be in the film, as it includes a lot of famous names this would draw viewers into watching the film. The actresses exspression are all moody unlike what you would expect from a typical wedding photo, this shows enigma as the viewer is wondering why they are not happy. This also starts to hint the comedy aspect of the film. Each character is standing in a different way which refelects there character in the film, for example, the one on the far right is posed and pouting which is typical for her in the movie as she's appears stuck up in film and to love herself. The second in from the right is trying to look sexy although as of her age and apperance you wouldn't expect her to be like this which she constantly does throughout the film. This makes the audience appreactie the poster more as it gives them an insight into the film. The brick wall background is also atypical for a wedding photo as you wouldn't usually see this again causing enigma as you wonder why they have used a brick wall.
At the top of the image it says other films the company has made such as Superbad and Knocked Up, these are both popular comedy films, so this will show people that it is a comedy film, and also people that liked the other films will have be more likly to watch this as it will give it a good reputation.
The colour scheme for the writing on the poster is pink and white this links in with the colours of the bridesmaid dress and the wedding dress, making the colour flow well throughout, this also attacts a female audiecne which the film is more aimed at.
There is a lot of use of contrast in this poster with the bright happy colours against the dark brick wall backgroud, the happy event of a wedding agaisnt there moody faces. This creates enigma for the audience drawing them into watch the film.
WWW: Excellent detail here about the features of the poster and what the effects if this are - linking to the genre directly.
